I’ve had the pleasure of attending numerous concerts in D.C. with friends that ranged from international acts to more local bands. Live music has played a huge role in making my year abroad experience so unique and special. Here are some of my favourite venues in D.C. for live music!
Capital One Arena

Located in the Chinatown neighbourhood, Capital One Arena is a sprawling indoor arena that is home to the Washington Wizards and the Washington Capitals. It also frequently hosts internationally renowned artists that play sell-out shows.

The Anthem

The Anthem is a music venue near the D.C. Waterfront. It is part of the District Wharf, which is home to famous restaurants and shops. The venue itself is fantastic and hosts a variety of acts from Brockhampton to Troye Sivan.
Songbyrd Record Cafe and Music House

The Songbyrd Cafe is referred to as ‘Washington’s Finest Music House,’ with their music venue lovingly called the ‘Bird Cage.’ The space is intimate and set aglow with fairy lights. It is characterised by a cozy basement vibe and as a standing capacity of around 200 people. There is also a space on the street level floor, where you can occasionally catch eclectic free concerts.
