In July 2018 I travelled to Calcutta, India, to volunteer for an amazing charity called “Emmanuel Ministries Calcutta (EMC)”. I did this as part of a team from the UK based charity “Tearfund”. EMC works primarily with vulnerable children, for example children who live on the street, who have been abused and who are addicted to drugs. I spent 4 weeks getting to know different children and staff at a few of the projects EMC have across the city. This included an English medium school for disadvantaged children, a residential home, and an after school club in a slum. As well as getting to know the children we were able to play lots of fun games with them and help them with their maths, english and science.
