School build in Nepal

Through the aid of Go Abroad I was able to spend three weeks in Nepal helping to rebuild a Kathmandu school destroyed by the 2015 earthquake.

I lived with and was looked after by a host family and along with the other volunteers, was able to experience a good deal of what Nepali life is like.

More information on my trip can be found through my travel blog which can be found here.

Pictures include working on the site, Nepali food, a lovely ceremony to commemorate finishing work and the bus journey to the Chitwan province to celebrate finishing work.

Finally, to sum up my time this summer I wrote a short poem which goes like this;

“Namaste, learning advice for life,

The fragile aspect of feeling alive,

Farewell, with added sense of longing,

This won’t be described as forever goodbye.”
